Simply put, no. Nothing that has been created within our fitness culture over the past 100 years is even remotely necessary.
– You don’t need a gym membership.
– You don’t need all of those supplements.
– You don’t need to read the latest diet books or get caught up on the latest nutritional research.
– You don’t need the latest shoes, gadgets or activity trackers.
Unless it’s been a big influence towards how we humans have behaved since we were swinging from trees then it’s not all that important.
Of course that doesn’t mean you have to stay away from such things. I don’t need a mountain bike or a ski pass to stay in shape, but I still have them because I enjoy using them. They are great, but I don’t rely on them in the least to stay in shape.
