I cringe when people say that fitness is a selfish endeavor, that it’s something bad and sinful to want to exercise and eat healthy.
Not that I disagree, fitness is a very selfish thing, but I believe that’s a good thing. A very good thing.
Getting what you want is not a selfish thing, it’s actually very selfless. It’s one of the best things you can do for the world and the people you care most about. The more you get what you want in fitness, the better off you, and everyone else will be.
I know that’s not a popular idea, especially within our fitness culture. Going after something you want is sometimes downplayed and even criticized. Even getting in shape in and of itself is seen as a selfish and self absorbed pursuit.
