One of the most popular topics I’m asked about is when and how someone can progress in body weight training. Progression in calisthenics still seems to be a mystery for many people.
Most of the time, it’s just a simple case of people over thinking things. It’s a myth that you have to progress along a very specific path in order to get results. There area a million ways you can progress any move and see results. To a large degree, it really doesn’t matter how you progress. Just as long as you progress you’ll make gains.
One of the biggest myths is that you have to progress in a series of steps. While you can progress in steps, I like to think of the whole process as moving up a ramp. You’re not always “on a step” so much as you’re working your way up.
Check out this video on how to apply ramping up in the steps of Convict Conditioning. It might clear some things up if you’re feeling stuck.
