Most training and exercise plateaus don’t happen because you’ve reached the limit of your potential, but rather because you’ve reached the current limit of your current approach.
Everything that works will only work for so long and then you’ll struggle to get beyond a certain point.
Here are some examples or progressive strategies:
Doing more reps/sets
Using a more advanced technique
Changing speed and tempo
Changing your range of motion
Improving muscle activation
Improving programming and your workout plan etc.
All of these can work, but they will also all result in a plateau if you depend on anyone or two for all of your total progress. At that point, you “plateau” not because you’re at the limits of what you can accomplish, but because you need to work on other areas to keep your training fresh and ensure you can create a stimulus in each workout.
